Microsoft Office Language Pack

This new group policy, AllowNonAdminUserInstallLAPs, setting controls whether users can install language accessory packs for Office even if they don’t have local administrator permissions on their devices. By default, Office users must have local administrator permissions on their devices to install language accessory packs. This policy will be applicable to the following products:

  • Outlook
  • Word
  • Excel
  • PowerPoint
  • OneNote.

When this will happen:

Just click that link and it will directly open the Language page in the Settings app. Click the Add a language button. Find the desired language you want to add, and click Next. Click the Install button to download the language pack and keyboard for that language. Part 3: Add Proofing Tools. Each language version of Microsoft 365 Apps includes proofing tools for a set of companion languages. For example, when you deploy the English version of Office, users receive proofing tools for English, Spanish, and French. These proofing tools include spelling and grammar checkers, thesauruses, and hyphenators.

We expect this rollout to begin in early September and and expect the rollout to be fully completed by late September.

By default, your organization will not be affected. However, if you are interested in allowing your organization install Office language accessory packs without requiring local administrator permissions you can implement the AllowNonAdminUserInstallLAPs group policy.
