- 'ScummVM' stands for: Script Creation Utility for Maniac Mansion Virtual Machine. SCUMM is the engine created by Lucas Arts for the game Maniac Mansion that later became the standard for most Lucas Arts adventure games of the time (1987-1998).
- ScummVM is a program which allows you to play classic Lucasarts adventure games through the ScummVM engine. The new release include sounds support and can run new titles. ScummVM is an implementation of the SCUMM (Script Creation Utility for Maniac Mansion) engine used in various Lucas Arts games such as Monkey Island.
An indie game tends to fit much better in my time schedule, a shorter experience is much sweeter. And since they don't have to tick every box in the Game Dev book to sell as many copies as possible and try to profit over a budget of hundreds of thousands, there is much more room for experimentation and unique concepts.
You are Klaymen. Klaymen wakes up in a building in the strangely empty world of Neverhood. Initially, he does not know where he is or what he has to do, but as he explores the area, he finds mysterious disks. Each disk contains a fragment of a recording; gradually, the backstory is revealed as Klaymen finds more and more disks. It would spoil too much to reveal the exact plot, as finding it out is part of the game.
