However, RPCS3 can be difficult to operate for new users. So to help you get started with the RPCS3, we have compiled a list of some of the most frequently asked questions and the answers and solutions to help you with your troubleshooting.
Select the File in the File Menu bar which can be seen at the top left of the RPCS3 window, then select Add Games. A new window will appear which will show the file directory of RPCS3. Navigate to the folder where your PS3 games are located.
For dumping digital games, you must copy the game folder from devhdd0/game/GameID on your console over to the same path on your RPCS3 folder. You also need to get your console's IDPS, the game's RIF and ACT.DAT, in order to generate a.RAP license file to be used in the emulator.
There are two ways of adding your games to RPCS3. The slow method is to select each folder of each game. Some players within the community recommend this method but the fastest and our preferred way of adding games is to select the folder where all your PS3 games are located.
Once you select the folder where your PS3 game/s of choice is located, these should now appear on the list of games in your RPCS3 window. Check your list for any games that do not show up in the list. If some games missing from your games list, use the slow method so that you can be sure that RPCS3 can detect the game’s PS3_GAME folder. You can then select the game you want in the list and play them.
You won’t need to use tools for this as you can download DLC similar to how you download PS3 Games. Go to your favorite games repository and download the .pkg files of the DLC you want to add in RPCS3.
Once you downloaded your DLC of choice, go to File then Install .pkg. Navigate to the folder where the DLC you want to install is located, select the corresponding .pkg file, then install. The process should only take a few minutes. Once done, your PS3 game should have the DLC installed. Run the game and enjoy the DLC.

To import save games in RPCS3, you will need the PS3 Tools Collection. In this collection is a tool called Bruteforce Save Data, which you can find in the Cheats & Saves folder. You will also need to have a savegame file first which is required for the importing process.
Download the save file you wish to import in RPCS3. Then to the RPCS3 directory > RPCS3 directory > dev_hdd0 > [your profile ID] then go to savedata. Go into the folder that has the same name as the save game folder you want to import.
Inside is a .SFO file. Copy this outside of the save folder, then replace this save folder with the folder of the save file you want to import. Run the Bruteforce Save Data tool in the PS3 Tools Collection. A prompt will show that it needs the .SFO file of the game you want to import a save file to. Go to the .SFO file that you copied and select it.
Then copy the save file directory in RPCS3 directory > RPCS3 directory > dev_hdd0 > [your profile ID] and paste it to the Bruteforce Save Data tool. You should then see the save file you want to import.
Right-click this file and select “Rebuild with current Profile (Full)”. The next step is to right-click this file and select “Decrypt all files”. Finally, right-click this file and select “Unlock save to work with any PS3 account”
Go back to RPCS3 and run the game. You should then see that the save file has been imported.
Saving games in RPCS3 is as easy as running your game and using its save function while playing the game. You can then check your Save Manager in RPCS3 to check and manage your save game files for every game you have.
You can also manage your save games manually by going to the RPCS3 directory > dev_hdd0 > home. You will probably see a folder that is named 00000001 if you are using a default User ID name in RPCS3. Go into this folder and then into savedata. This where your save game files are located.
